








Cross Country running is a sport in which teams and individuals race on outdoor courses over natural terrain. Races advance over courses that are confined to a three mile range, that include country, fields, parks, golf courses, and grasslands. The traversing of paved roads should be kept to a minimum. Our school has competed against many schools and have won many awards.








Meeting Time
The practice time for Cross Country usually meets at the baseball field around 3:30. Most of the practices are usually 3-5 mile runs and running up hills. If they race good on Fridays a student will get a practice off so that they can play games.
Eligibility
In order to join and continue to participate in this sport there are a few eligible requirements. It is mandatory that you have a physical. As for grades you cannot have any F's and every student-athlete needs to have at least a 2.0GPA.

Coaches
The Cross Country Coaches are Adrian Lucero and Coach Crystal. Coach Adrian is the high school coach and Crystal is the Middle school coach. If you want to join Cross Country you can talk to the at the start of the year at the baseball fields .
Achievements
​West Las Vegas High School has 10 state cross country championships since 1978. WLVHS competes in the New Mexico Activities Association as a AAA school in District 2. In 2024 WLVHS almost had an former athlete make it into the Olympics, the runner was a few seconds away.
